Review: Seche Vite

Seche Vite is my current go-to top coat. It is closer to perfect than Orly Bonder, but it still is not perfect.

Seche Vite is a dry fast top coat, and I would agree that it is pretty speedy. My nails are dry to the touch within minutes and seem to be totally dry within an hour. I wish there was a magical top coat that enabled me to paint my nails and then immediately move on with my life, but I haven't found that product just yet.

One nice thing about Seche Vite is its great shine. It really seems to add something to my manicure, which is especially great if you are using glitter.

I still get chips and tip wear with Seche Vite. I have to blame that on my body chemistry.

I've heard a lot of complaints about shrinkage with Seche Vite. I haven't had that problem, but that's because I'm careful in how I apply Seche Vite. Seche Vite is best applied while your nail polish is still a little wet. I get a big gloopy drop of Seche Vite and apply to my nail. If you want to add top coat to dry nail polish, Seche Vite is not the way to go.

One issue with Seche Vite is that it loses its viscosity as you get about halfway through the bottle. However, Seche makes a great companion product, Seche Restore. Seche Restore, which is a nail polish thinner, comes with a dropper. A few drops of Seche Restore, and your Seche Vite should be good to go. Then I refill my bottle of Seche Vite from a larger bottle. You can find good deals on Seche Vite and Seche Restore on Amazon.

One reason I use Seche Restore as opposed to any old nail polish thinner is that Seche Vite is NOT big-3 free, as it contains toulene. Accordingly, Seche Vite comes packaged with scary warnings. Personally, I'm willing to take the risk of a little toulene if the trade-off is a great top coat. I'd probably think differently if I were pregnant.
